Description

Basic Encampment is for those cadets that have not previously attended an Encampment. Encampment is required for cadets to promote to the officer grades. It is also required for a cadet to attend the Lone Star Emeregency Services Academy, Intermediate Encampment, or any National Cadet Special Activities. A cadet at basic encampment will learn how to drill as part of a flight, teamwork, Aerospace opportunities, leadership opportunities and other classes. Please see CAPR 52-16 Chapter 9 for all opportunities that encampment offers.

The Basic Cadets will need to submit their application to Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel, Nancy Smalley. Mail to: 416 Victorian Drive, Waxahachie, Texas 75165. All forms and payment via Event Brite must be received by 1 December 2017. Late applications will not be accepted. No one arriving without having previously sent a CAPF 31 will be allowed to sign into the activity. DO NOT send forms by any postal or delivery method that requires a signature. If you are worried about your paperwork arriving on time, please contact us at texaswingencampment@gmail.com.

For Cadets and Seniors, the following forms must be included with their application (all forms are available at www.texascadet.org):

  1. CAPF 31,:
  2. Under “ACTIVITY APPLYING FOR” put Basic Encampment. Be sure to include your
    (a)current CAP grade.
    (b) The medical section must be completed.
    (c) Cadet’s parent(s) must sign the CAPF 31.
    (d) Squadron Commanders should verify the information and sign the CAPF 31.
  3. Certificate of Understanding
  4. CAPF 160
  5. CAPF 161
  6. CAPF 163

CAPF 31 received without the above information will not be accepted until all missing information is received.

The activity will be held at Camp Swift Training Center, Bastrop, Texas. There will be a $165.00 charge for basic encampment and a $105.00 fee for cadet and senior staff. The total amount is to be sent in with your CAPF 31. This covers food, drinks, t-shirt, billeting and administrative costs. The fee may be paid via the Event Brite link put link here. DO NOT send cash. This is non-refundable after 1 December 2017.

If the eventbrite site allowed you to pay for the encampment. You must also send your paperwork CAPF 31, 160, 161 and 163 via Postal Mail to Chaplain (Lt Col) Nancy Smalley at 416 Victorian Drive, Waxahachie, TX 75165. Once all of your paperwork is in, you will receive an email from the Registrar.

Can first time cadets attend encampment for FREE?
Yes, if you have a need for assistance, you can apply for the Cadet Encampment Assistance Program (CEAP). The deadline for this can be found on the National CAP Website.
Application Process. With a parent or senior member, log-in to eServices.
Click “Cadet Encampment Assistance Program,” answer the questions and go to encampment for free for first time cadets.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, please! Bring your confirmation ticket and ID Card to encampment. This just helps you prove that you have already paid for encampment.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Parents, when signing up your cadet, please ensure you enter their name, not yours.
